I am a Writer
This class has really developed my writing skills I think. Before, everything I wrote had to be super formal and the tone was always the same. This class has allowed me to have a variety of tones and play around with different writing styles. I think that everything throughout the semester has gotten better and better as the class continues. The reason I think the class was what helped my writing skills is because we experimented with so many different ways to write with different projects that it was hard not to get exposed to a bunch of new things. My blogs are always pretty casual and the language isn't very promising, yet, I actually kind of like these posts... gives me a chance to write about whatever I want without having to think about really anything in particular.

Reading this post made me realize that I too had the same tone with all my other papers. I agree with the blog thing as well, the language isn't too promising but I don't absolutely hate writing them. It makes me think about the class and whatever writing piece I'm working on at the time.
ReplyDeleteI think I wrote the same thing in my post. We were introduced to a variety of different writing styles in this class and I think we all benefited a lot from it. I think we all got better at choosing audiences and writing to them specifically throughout the semester. I agree with you about this whole blog thing, it gave me the ability to communicate in an informal manner about almost anything I wanted to.
ReplyDeleteI think that you & I have pretty similar outlooks on this class. Rather than just a typical essay, we were able to express one idea in many different ways. I feel like an English 212 class has the potential to be pretty brutal because it just consists of writing, but I feel like our class had the opportunity to break away from the generic stereotype.
